Ranking, Link Building and Google Analytics

I had another tough time this week trying to figure out the link building. I feel that every piece of information I found about link building did not apply to me. The point is to have your link appear in multiple places. For me, I cannot find others in my niche, because those "others" are my competitors. There isn't really a general site people go to. My images could appear in google searches and that is kind of it. I struggled with this one. I did really enjoy the Google Analytics activity this week. I am amazed at the amount of data gathered by Google Analytics (and even kind of frightened at the same time as my own data is on sites as I have done many Google Searches).  Website owners are able to obtain information such as location of their customers, amount of time spent on a specific page, the page they exited your website from, the dollar amount spent, age of the customer, and where the customer came from or obtained your web address just to name a few. With this...

Social Media and Social Networking

T his week I was able to learn the importance of social media and social networking for my business. I learned the steps I need to make to ensure my business is successful on social media sites. I realized a lot of things this week and many of those things are the fact that I need to be more active on social media for my business. 98% of my business is from referrals of friends and family. That is great but my referrals are slowing down so I need to get my business spread further out than the 30 mile radius from my home. The other thing I learned is that my Google Ads was not as successful as I hoped it would have been. If I choose to continue to use Google Ads, I will need to decide on better keywords to get the right kind of traffic to my site. I did have a lot of people click on my site, but no one purchased so I feel that is a fail. Clearly I was able to do something right to get people to my site but I still need to have modifications to my site and my keywords.

Page Optimization

T his week was a little difficult for me. I don't speak computer language and one of the articles we were tasked to read was difficult to follow. What I did get from the learning this week is that I need to make changes to my website. I've created my website and I see through Google Analytics that I have visitors to my site, but I don't have buyers. I also see that a lot of people visit my site for only a few minutes, if that. A lot of changes need to be made and I can start making them on things that are affected by search engine optimizations. I need to have the right keywords and have those keywords in my site, not just in ads. I need to work on having links that lead to my site. This one is where I got lost but I will continue to determine how to make this happen. Facebook maybe?  Lots of changes and things need to be made and I look forward to making those changes slowly and hope that it helps my business be more successful.

Ad Performance

I don't know why I have struggled so much on this. This week we are learning about optimizing ad performance and ensuring we are getting the best return on our investment. I have modified my keywords, tried to make them more specific and less broad but for some reason my quality scores will not increase. Maybe because my product is limited I am limited on my keywords, I don't know. I will keep changing, modifying and narrowing down my options in an attempt to get the best scores and hopefully get a sale on my site. This week we also learned about conversion and how to track it. For me, my conversion is an actual sale. Some people it is newsletter sign ups, clicks, or just visitors to their page. Having people visit my page does nothing for me, except get my name out there but that doesn't do much. I need people to purchase a tumbler in order for me to get anything from my site. So I will work on my keywords in an attempt to get the right customers to my site to purchase ...

Google Analytics

T his week we were able to connect our websites to Google Analytics. This will help us track the things such as the location from which our traffic came from (Google Ad, direct site, FaceBook, etc), as well as what pages were visited and how long the customer was on each page, as so one. I am excited to see the information that I am going to obtain from this and look forward to applying changes to my site to help best suit my customer. I also was able to work more on changing my website from Kelsey's Kreations to Kelsey Davis Designs. I look forward to running Google Ads next week and seeing the results from that as well.

Google Ads

T his week was a rough week for me due to a medical procedure. When I was able to get on my computer I felt like I struggled with focusing and actually learning anything. I was able to obtain some information this week and I will share them here to ensure I retain the information for the future. It is time for our Google ad words to start. I had a hard time trying to come up with all the different options for my website without it being too generic. If I am not specific enough, I can get people clicking on my ad that do not apply. For example, I do machine embroidery but there is also hand embroidery. I have to make sure I don't get people clicking on my site that are looking for something different. On the other hand, if my Google ad words are too specific, I won't get any clicks at all. Hopefully I find the happy balance between the two and am successful with driving traffic to my website. As a side note, a few weeks ago while doing research for my business I found out...

I made my own website!!!

I was really worried about this whole creating my own website from scratch thing. My husband is currently in the CIT (Computer Information Technology) program in school and I've watching him type in random letters and words and out pops a beautiful side. I don't know how to code, it is the most confusing thing to me so I was petrified thinking I would have to do the same thing. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was with the help of site builders. Am I still learning? OH YES! And I will be learning for a long time but I have made quite good progress and will continue to do so. I know that my site isn't going to be perfect the first go round, I would hope that no ones is perfect. I am actually excited for what I am going to learn in this class that will help my business continue to grow. It is still a work in progress but check it out here: http://kelseys-kreations.com.
